TRUE AURA FALSE: CHAKRAS AFFECT YOUR HEALTH?

Anyone who has that token ~*spiritual*~ friend has probably heard them mention chakras at some point. Ditto pretty much every person you interact with at Burning Man: It’s likely the topic of auras and kundalini will have cropped up during your early morning, “open-minded” (*cough* drug-enhanced) conversations. Whether or not you’re partial to this sort of New Age discussion, even the skeptics can’t deny being the teensiest bit intrigued by the concept.

So what are chakras? Are they good/bad, are they something you can get more of, do people have different types, what’s the story? The basics are, you little curious CULT WHYers, is that chakras are energy vortices, so says ancient Indian tradition. We supposedly have seven chakras — energy centers that are kind of like portals that open and close, allowing energy through — and these collectively form our aura. So this explains why there is variation between peoples’ energies. And also why you may feel as though some peeps mess up yours to the point where you need these accessories to help with some maje chakra cleansing:

As silly as it may seem, we bet our pupper that at some point in your life you’ve interacted with someone you just didn’t feel comfortable around, someone who made you feel “prickly” or creeped out, or who seemed like a black cloud personified. You might’ve even gone so far as to say that you felt like you didn’t vibrate on the same frequency as them. Hullo, it’s all chakras! Said individual’s energy vibrations, thus their overall aura, jarred with yours.

Now, before we talk about the cause of this and the likely blocked chakras and all that jazz, here’s the 411 on ch-to-the-akras.
